The Unhomed Stone

Broken Light: A Photography Collective

Please welcome first-time contributor Victoria, a 41-year-old mother of three, who lives and writes in the UK. First diagnosed with depression after the birth of her second child, she has worked hard to overcome the dark parts. She’s returned to university in order to help others, and will soon be a licensed psychologist.

About this photo: “This photograph shows the seeming futility of self-determination; the stone is moved, by forces outside of its control, and has no say in where it lands. Often, this is how life feels to me; often there are no ways we can exert the force of our own will. Our desires, wants, and needs mean nothing to the current, and the tide deposits us where it will before leaving us cast ashore, with nothing but the scars and remnants of its strength visible around us.”
